Welcome to Amesbury Baptist Church

We understand it can be daunting if you’ve never been to a church before. To make it easier, this page gives you some idea of where we are located, who is who in the church and what to expect when you first come for a Sunday morning service.

What is a Sunday Service like?

When you come into the building, someone will greet you at the door and offer you a copy of our monthly news sheet. Please feel free to sit wherever you like.

If you have children, they can either sit with you or join the other children. During most Sunday morning services the children aged 4-8+ leave for their own fun-filled Bible groups (Early Birds and Birds of Pray) part way through. These activities are run by helpers who are DBS-checked. We also have a parent supervised crèche for the under 3s (Ducklings).

The service, which typically lasts about an hour and a half, will normally consist of a time of praise and worship , Bible reading(s), some prayers and a talk.

We have a offering box at the back of the church for regular attenders, and should you wish to help with our expenses, you are welcome to place any monies in it, but don’t feel you have to. Many Church members give directly through the banking system.

Toilets can be found to the left hand side as you enter the lobby along with a disabled toilet and also upstairs.

After the morning service, refreshments are served in the lobby and hall opposite the sanctuary. It’s a great chance to catch up with others and to find out more about church life at ABC.

Accessibility

The church building is accessible to all on ground floor level.  There are spaces in the car park designated for disabled users and a ramp leading to the church door.  The worship area is on the ground floor with plenty of space for wheelchairs or other mobility equipment. Sanctuary is fitted with a loop system for hearing aids.

Not just Sundays

As well as our Sunday services, we have many groups happening in the week. If you’re not sure where to start, or which group to try, please get in touch and we’ll be more than happy to help you find your feet.

Be a part of it (Membership)

We hope you find yourself at home with us. We have a large number of regular attenders, and when people make Amesbury Baptist their home church we encourage them to join us in membership, where we can all take a more active part in being a church body.

To find out more information on being a member please speak to one of the leaders on a Sunday.

Diving into faith (Baptism)

We’re all in different places with our faith, some just starting to explore what Christianity means while others are delving deeper into their faith having been a Christian for many years. We believe that Jesus is Lord in our lives, that we can depend on his Word and that together we are his church.

We believe that when we make the choice to follow Jesus, we should follow his example and be baptised, as a symbol of our choice to follow Him. If you’d like to find out more about what baptism means, speak to one of our leaders – they’ll be happy to talk about it.

Any other questions?

Hopefully, this gives you a good starting point, but if you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch, or simply walk on in and speak to one of the welcome team. We hope to see you soon.
